Grand Valley State University outlasts Michigan State University, 3-2

The Grand Valley State University Lakers and the Michigan State University Spartans were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Grand Valley State University made the most of its opportunities and won, 3-2.

No lead was more than one goal during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Alexa Tenwalde at 10:48 of the third period.

Tea Greca had a great game for the Lakers, netting two goals. Greca scored short handed at 11:49 into the second period to make the score 1-1 and again while 16:28 into the second to make the score 2-1 Grand Valley State University.

Grand Valley State University excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Michigan State University was unable to stop the Lakers from sending pucks towards the net, and Grand Valley State University eventually piled up 39 shots on goal.

Other players who recorded assists for Grand Valley State University were Hilary Daniels and Katie Danto, who contributed one each.

The Spartans' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Grand Valley State University power plays.

Michigan State University was helped by Kelsey Cross, who racked up one goal. Cross scored 16:50 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Lauren Blasen assisted on the tally. Sydney Glanz also scored for Michigan State University. More assists for Michigan State University came via Breana Kraut, who had one.

The Lakers' Lauren Allen stopped 27 shots out of the 29 that he faced. Grand Valley State University incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Kathryn Hamer recorded 36 saves for the Spartans. Michigan State University incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
