M1 Rochester Institute of Technolo boosted by Lewis' play in net, beats M1 Cornell University 2-1

A stellar performance between the pipes by Gavin Lewis helped the M1 Rochester Institute of Technolo Tigers defeat the M1 Cornell University Big Red, 2-1.

M1 Cornell University's power play was ineffective against M1 Rochester Institute of Technolo's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

The Tigers were paced by Phillip Scheible, who had one goal. Scheible scored on the power play 9:18 into the third period to make the score 2-1 M1 Rochester Institute of Technolo. M1 Rochester Institute of Technolo had taken the advantage when the Big Red's Tedric Bellis got sent off for roughing. Nicholas Washco picked up the assist.

The Tigers stifled M1 Cornell University's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. M1 Rochester Institute of Technolo put 41 shots on net during the contest, more than the 0.2 it averages per game.

Brendan Solinski also scored for M1 Rochester Institute of Technolo. In addition, M1 Rochester Institute of Technolo received assists from Sean Bellefeuille and Cody Zajaczkowski, who each chipped in one.

The Big Red could not produce up to their normal offensive output. M1 Cornell University puts an average of 4.8 pucks into the net per game. The Big Red's offense was clicking better than usual and put 49 shots on goal during the game, better than the 0.3 shots per game they average. M1 Cornell University found itself short handed often, totaling 26 penalty minutes and allowing six power plays.

The Big Red were led by Dylan Parker, who scored the team's only goal. Parker scored 7:07 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Bellis provided the assist.

The Tigers' Lewis stopped 48 shots out of the 49 that he faced. M1 Rochester Institute of Technolo incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Jake Paul rejected 39 shots on goal for M1 Cornell University.
