M1 Saint Bonaventure University falls to M1 Binghamton University after surprising comeback

Undaunted by a three-goal deficit, the M1 Binghamton University Bearcats battled back to claim an 8-7 victory over the M1 Saint Bonaventure University Bonnies.

M1 Binghamton University never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Bearcats fell behind 7-4 after a goal by M1 Saint Bonaventure University's Tyler Gokey at 18:09 in the second period. M1 Binghamton University tied things up at 7-7 on a goal by Cody Klein at 10:31 in the third period. The Bearcats netted the game winner at 13:17 in the third period on a goal by Klein.

Peter Russo was all over the ice for M1 Binghamton University, as he tallied one goal and three assists in the win. Russo scored 19:35 into the second period to make the score 7-5 M1 Saint Bonaventure University. Kyle Lawrence assisted on the tally.

The Bearcats put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Bonnies to score on any of their nine power plays. M1 Binghamton University's goal total was higher than its season average. This season, the Bearcats average 3.8 goals per contest. M1 Binghamton University's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Bearcats finished with 18 penalty minutes. M1 Binghamton University also had goals scored by Joseph Posillico and Thomas Samar, who scored one goal each. More assists for M1 Binghamton University came via Cameron Krug, who had three and Christopher Frye, Jacob McKenna, Alex Walczyk, and Thomas Farrar, who each chipped in one.

The Bonnies' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on eight M1 Binghamton University power plays. M1 Saint Bonaventure University outdid its season average for goals scored. The Bonnies have scored at the pace of 3.4 goals per game during the current campaign.

M1 Saint Bonaventure University was led by John Rogers, who registered three goals. M1 Saint Bonaventure University also got a goal from Andrew Chadwick as well. Other players who recorded assists for M1 Saint Bonaventure University were Evan Wohlabaugh, who had two, Ethan Mackrell, who had three, and Colin Coppola, Derrick Jester, and Andrew Farnham, who contributed one each.

The Bonnies incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
