M1 Penn State University Berks wins tough contest against M1 Slippery Rock University, 4-3

The game between the M1 Penn State University Berks Nittany Lions and the M1 Slippery Rock University Pride was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end M1 Penn State University Berks emerged with a 4-3 win.

The Nittany Lions gained the winning advantage on a goal by Alec Dellavecchia 19:38 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer.

M1 Penn State University Berks got the win behind a great game by Dellavecchia, who had two goals and one assist. Dellavecchia scored the first of his two goals at 3:18 into the third period to make the score 2-2. Jesse Abarca provided the assist. Dellavecchia's next tally made the score 4-3 M1 Penn State University Berks with 22 seconds left in the third period. John Maniscalco picked up the assist.

The Nittany Lions forced M1 Slippery Rock University's goalies to work between the pipes, racking up 44 shots and forcing 40 saves. Patrick Spaulding made 40 stops and Sami-Pekka Ansio made zero. M1 Penn State University Berks put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Pride to score on any of their three power plays.

M1 Penn State University Berks also got points from Abarca, who also grabbed one goal and two assists. Eric Kantner also scored for M1 Penn State University Berks. More assists for M1 Penn State University Berks came via Zachary Higgins, who had one.

With 38 shots on target during the contest, M1 Slippery Rock University exceeded the 0.1 shots it averages per game this year. The Pride could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 30 minutes in penalties during the game.

M1 Slippery Rock University was helped by Stephen Reu, who had one goal. Reu scored 5:10 into the third period to make the score 3-2 M1 Slippery Rock University. Hunter Anthony assisted on the tally.
