M1 Niagara University falls to M1 Davenport University after surprising comebackDwyer Arena Fri, Oct 16, 2015 The M1 Davenport University Panthers climbed out of a four-goal hole to beat the M1 Niagara University Purple Eagles, 6-5. M1 Davenport University let multiple leads slip away before eventually digging out of a four hole to pick up the win. The Panthers took a 1-0 advantage on a goal by Travis White at 5:11 in the first period. M1 Davenport University went down 5-1 after M1 Niagara University's Robert Mcnamara put the puck home on the power play at 13:58 in the second period. After tying things up at 5-5 on a goal by Alex Hulford at 14:08 in the third, the Panthers got the game-winner from Hulford at 15:48 in the third period. Hulford had two goals and two assists to lead M1 Davenport University. The Panthers forced the Purple Eagles goalie Mike Parda to work between the pipes, taking 41 shots. M1 Davenport University's defense let in more goals than it usually has this year. The Panthers are averaging 1.8 goal against for the season. M1 Davenport University found itself short handed often, totaling 20 penalty minutes and allowing eight power plays. M1 Davenport University also had goals scored by Jordan Simmonds and Walker Aurand, who scored one goal each. In addition, M1 Davenport University received assists from Matt Ogden, who had two and Luke Mccarthy, Chris Eckler, Cameron Dimmitt, and Winston Hofer, who each chipped in one. M1 Niagara University was helped by Dalton Bew, who registered two goals. Bew scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 13:22 into the first period to make the score 1-1. The Purple Eagles had gotten the advantage when the Panthers' Hofer was sent off for cross checking. Austin Wharry picked up the assist. Bew's next tally on the power play made the score 2-1 M1 Niagara University with 35 seconds left in the first period. Josh Pietrantonio assisted on the tally. M1 Niagara University also got points from Pietrantonio, who also finished with one goal and three assists to lead the team in points. Nick Smith also scored for M1 Niagara University. More assists for M1 Niagara University came via Brad Beran, Andrew Mitch, Dallas Szustak, David Hazelet, and matthew Bavaro, who contributed one each. Matt Kaludis made 14 saves before being replaced by Clayton Brown, who took the win and made nine saves. M1 Davenport University registered one goal on two power play opportunities. Parda recorded 35 saves for M1 Niagara University. The Purple Eagles incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
