M1 Oakland University holds on for 5-3 win against M1 Eastern Michigan University

The M1 Eastern Michigan University Eagles tried their best to erase a three-goal deficit, but the M1 Oakland University Golden Grizzlies would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 5-3.

M1 Oakland University made the score 5-2 on a goal by Spencer Stark at 16:01 in the third period, and M1 Eastern Michigan University got as close as 5-3 when Zachary Willis scored 16:56 into the third period.

The Golden Grizzlies was paced on offense by Stark and Frank Saputo, who combined for six points. Stark registered two goals and one assist and Saputo also notched one goal and two assists.

M1 Oakland University racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with six minors and one major for 27 minutes in penalty time. The Golden Grizzlies surpassed its season average of 22.0 penalty minutes per game. M1 Oakland University's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on eight M1 Eastern Michigan University power plays. The Golden Grizzlies' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in three goals. By firing 49 shots on goal, M1 Oakland University exceeded the 2.1 shots it averages per game this year.

M1 Oakland University also got points from Saputo, who also racked up one goal and two assists and Ian Jacobs, who also had one goal and one assist. M1 Oakland University also got a goal from Ryan Rotondi as well. In addition, M1 Oakland University received assists from Steven Rhodes and Kyle Nelson, who each chipped in one.

The Eagles excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. The 24 shots that M1 Eastern Michigan University put on net surpassed the Eagles' average of 1.1 shot per game this season.

M1 Eastern Michigan University was led by Ryan Faucheux, who tallied two goals and one assist. Faucheux scored the first of his two goals at 16:45 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Willis assisted on the tally. Faucheux's next tally made the score 2-1 M1 Eastern Michigan University with 18:29 left in the second period. Richard ORourke picked up the assist. M1 Eastern Michigan University additionally got points from Willis, who also registered one goal and one assist.

Bryce Goulah made 21 saves for the Golden Grizzlies on 24 shots. Kevin oshea rejected 44 shots on goal for the Eagles. M1 Eastern Michigan University incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
