Grand Valley State University outlasts Michigan University of, 4-2

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Grand Valley State University Lakers escaped with a 4-2 victory over the Michigan University of Wolverines.

Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Stacey Mathieu's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

Grand Valley State University was led by Mathieu, who registered one goal. Mathieu scored 3:26 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Grand Valley State University. Tea Greca assisted on the tally.

The Lakers stifled Michigan University of's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Wolverines were unable to stop Grand Valley State University from sending pucks towards the net, and the Lakers eventually piled up 35 shots on goal.

Grand Valley State University also got points from Taylor Lampar, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Grand Valley State University included Frankie Wojtylo and Corey Robison, who scored one goal each. In addition, Grand Valley State University received assists from Hilary Daniels, who had one and Sally Hoerr, who had three.

Michigan University of was helped by Jennifer Cusmano, who grabbed one goal. Cusmano scored 11:25 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Michigan University of. Ania Dow provided the assist. Michigan University of also got a goal from Mercedes Reyes as well. More assists for Michigan University of came via Sarah Lather, who had one.

Grand Valley State University's Taylor Watson stopped 22 shots out of the 24 that he faced. The Lakers totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play. Bailey Hamill made 31 saves for the Wolverines on 35 shots. Michigan University of incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
