Greca's hat trick boosts Grand Valley State University over Ohio State University, 8-1

Tea Greca netted a hat trick to lead the Grand Valley State University Lakers over the Ohio State University Buckeyes, 8-1.

Greca got on the scoresheet 17:01 into the first period. He then added goals at 15:36 into the second and at 16:46 into the third.

The game was close after the first frame, but Grand Valley State University banged in three goals during the second period to put the victory out of reach for Ohio State University.

The Lakers forced the Buckeyes goalie Emily Ciborek to work between the pipes, taking 63 shots. Grand Valley State University surpassed its usual scoring output this season. This season, the Lakers average 5.0 goals per contest.

Grand Valley State University also got points from Hilary Daniels, who also racked up one goal and two assists. Grand Valley State University also had goals scored by Taylor Lampar, who had two and Karyn Schmaltz and Kristen Iannuzzi, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Grand Valley State University were Sally Hoerr, Allison Lowe, Alex Brinkman, Jordan Yackel, and Jenalyn Pangborn, who each chipped in one and Haley Keary and Corey Robison, who contributed two each.

Grand Valley State University's defense shut down Ohio State University's forwards for much of the game, and the Buckeyes got off only 10 shots during the contest. Ohio State University could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 16 minutes in penalties during the game.

The Buckeyes were led by Jessica Mccoy, who scored the team's only goal. Mccoy scored 4:30 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Ohio State University. Courtney Trudeau provided the assist.

The Lakers' Morgan Lang stopped nine shots out of the 10 that he faced. Grand Valley State University incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Ciborek rejected 55 shots on goal for Ohio State University. The Buckeyes registered zero goals on two power play opportunities.
