Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the M1 Robert Morris Univ Illinois Eagles defeated the M1 Iowa State University Cyclones in a shootout 2-1 (2-1 SO).

The Eagles came back from a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. M1 Robert Morris Univ Illinois was down 1-0 after a goal by the Cyclones' Jonathan Severson at 5:49 in the first period. The Eagles knotted things up at 1-1 on a power play goal by Valentin at 7:34 in the third period.

M1 Iowa State University was stymied by M1 Robert Morris Univ Illinois' netminder Justin Ball, who stopped 27 shots during the victory. Ball certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.18 entering the contest.
