The M1 Kent State University Golden Flashes had trouble finding ways to stop the M1 Oakland University Golden Grizzlies, which beat Golden Flashes, 6-2.

Kyle Nelson had two goals and one assist to lead M1 Oakland University. Nelson scored the first of his two goals at 13:36 into the first period to make the score 2-0 M1 Oakland University. Frank Saputo provided the assist. Nelson's next tally made the score 6-2 M1 Oakland University with 5:27 left in the third period. Steven Rhodes picked up the assist.

The Golden Grizzlies pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 24 penalty minutes.

In addition, M1 Oakland University received assists from Conor Durgan, who had two, Josh Neumann, who had three, and Ian Jacobs and Tom Kilgore, who each chipped in one.

The Golden Flashes' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four M1 Oakland University power plays. The Golden Grizzlies were unable to stop M1 Kent State University from sending pucks towards the net, and the Golden Flashes eventually piled up 36 shots on goal.

M1 Kent State University was led by Jonathon Buttitta, who grabbed two goals.
