M1 Davenport University rips M1 Oakland University, 11-2

The M1 Oakland University Golden Grizzlies had trouble finding ways to stop the M1 Davenport University Panthers, which beat Golden Grizzlies, 11-2.

Aaron Beally was all over the ice for M1 Davenport University, as he tallied one goal and three assists in the win. Beally scored on the power play 6:27 into the second period to make the score 4-1 M1 Davenport University. The Panthers had gained a power play chance when Ryan Rotondi was whistled for roughing. Everett Thompson assisted on the tally.

M1 Oakland University's eight penalties came back to haunt it, as the Golden Grizzlies let up four goals while on the penalty kill.

M1 Davenport University put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow M1 Oakland University to score on any of its four power plays. The Panthers bested their season scoring average. M1 Davenport University averages 4.8 goals per game. The defensemen of the Panthers were also effective in the Golden Grizzlies' zone, and came away with two goals. With 70 shots on target during the contest, M1 Davenport University exceeded the 4.9 shots it averages per game this year.

M1 Davenport University also got points from Cody Walsh, who also racked up one goal and two assists, Matt Ogden, who also registered one goal and two assists, Cameron Dimmitt, who also tallied two goals and one assist, Travis White, who also had one goal and one assist, and Thompson, who also racked up three goals and two assists to lead the team in points. Others who scored for M1 Davenport University included Luke Mccarthy and Alex Hulford, who scored one goal each. In addition, M1 Davenport University received assists from Louie Abounader, who had two, Jordan Simmonds, who had four, and Tyler Ploeg, Chris Eckler, Winston Hofer, and Michael Lozicki, who contributed one each.

M1 Oakland University was often in penalty trouble, totaling seven minors and one major for 29 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 21.0 minutes per game the Golden Grizzlies had been spending in the box.

M1 Oakland University was led by Drew Parus, who grabbed one goal. Parus scored short handed 4:30 into the second period to make the score 3-1 M1 Davenport University. Ioan Florea picked up the assist. Kyle Nelson also scored for M1 Oakland University. More assists for M1 Oakland University came via Joe Pizzimenti and Tom Kilgore, who each chipped in one.

The Panthers' Clayton Brown stopped 22 shots out of the 24 that he faced. M1 Davenport University incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Anthony Munoz made 59 saves for the Golden Grizzlies on 70 shots.
