M1 Davenport University wins tough contest against M1 Indiana Tech, 5-3

The M1 Davenport University Panthers gutted out a close 5-3 win against M1 Indiana Tech.

M1 Davenport University gained the winning advantage on a goal by Jordan Simmonds 12:02 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer.

Simmonds had two goals to lead the Panthers to victory.

M1 Davenport University's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three M1 Indiana Tech power plays. The 43 shots that the Panthers put on net surpassed M1 Davenport University's average of 6.9 shots per game this season.

M1 Davenport University also had goals scored by Stephen Flood, Everett Thompson, and Alyx Fonseca, who each put in one. In addition, M1 Davenport University received assists from Michael Lozicki, who had one and Louie Abounader, Chris Eckler, and Matt Ogden, who contributed two each.

With 26 shots on target during the contest, M1 Indiana Tech exceeded the 7.7 shots it averages per game this year. M1 Indiana Tech could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 16 minutes in penalties during the game.

M1 Indiana Tech was led by Jarrett Pfeiffer, who racked up two goals and one assist. Pfeiffer scored the first of his two goals at 16:56 into the second period to make the score 2-1 M1 Indiana Tech. Dylan Grant picked up the assist. Pfeiffer's next tally made the score 3-2 M1 Indiana Tech with 12:10 left in the third period. Jace Childs assisted on the tally. M1 Indiana Tech additionally got points from Childs, who also registered one goal and one assist.

Matt Kaludis made 23 saves for the Panthers on 26 shots. M1 Davenport University incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Chet Tooker rejected 38 shots on goal for M1 Indiana Tech.
