Johnson lifts M2 Rider University over M2 Army, 5-2

M2 Rider University relied on the scoring touch of Christopher Johnson, who netted two goals, to beat M2 Army, 5-2.

Johnson scored at 5:27 into the second period to make the score 2-1 M2 Rider University and again while 4:15 into the third to make the score 3-2 M2 Rider University.

M2 Rider University's penalty kill excelled, as M2 Rider University gave up one goal despite allowing six power plays.

M2 Rider University kept M2 Army's goalie busy throughout the game, and Robert Fenton made 34 saves on 39 shots. M2 Rider University took advantage of M2 Army's penalties, tallying two goals off of three power play opportunities.

M2 Rider University additionally got points from Patrick Grilli, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Andrew Heinz, who also had one goal and one assist. M2 Rider University also got a goal from Nicholas Leelum as well. Other players who recorded assists for M2 Rider University were Maxwell Daley, Conner Fox, and Michael Kennedy, who each chipped in one and Christopher Daley and John Martino, who contributed two each.

M2 Army forced M2 Rider University goalie CJ Lineman to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots.

M2 Army was led by Kyle Vogel, who tallied one goal and one assist. Vogel scored 4:37 into the first period to make the score 1-0 M2 Army. Nick Curtin also scored for M2 Army. In addition, M2 Army received assists from James Morsch, who had one.

M2 Rider University's Lineman stopped 34 shots out of the 36 that he faced. M2 Rider University incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. M2 Army incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
