Miami University takes care of Davenport University early, wins 7-0

The Miami University RedHawks opened up a five-goal lead after the first period and did not look back en route to a 7-0 win over the Davenport University Panthers.

Ireland Mooney was all over the ice for Miami University, as he had two goals in the win. Mooney scored at 3:47 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Miami University and again while 15:02 into the second to make the score 6-0 Miami University.

The RedHawks forced Davenport University's goaltenders to work between the pipes, racking up 56 shots and forcing 49 saves. Dawn Salo made 20 stops and Karley Ferguson made 29. Miami University stifled the Panthers' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The RedHawks outdid their season average for goals scored. Miami University has scored at the pace of 4.4 goals per game during the current campaign. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

Miami University also got points from Becca Senden, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Kaley Mooney, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points, Jessica Gould, who also finished with one goal and one assist, and Jordan Hanson, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Miami University also got a goal from Rachael Booth as well. More assists for Miami University came via Caroline Noble, who had two and Kathleen Baldwin and Alyssa Visalli, who contributed one each.

Davenport University's offense operated below its season average. The Panthers put an average of 2.1 pucks into the net per game. The RedHawks' defense shut down Davenport University's forwards for much of the game, and the Panthers got off only seven shots during the contest.

Emalee Wills made seven saves for Miami University on seven shots. The RedHawks incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Davenport University incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
