Gould's big game bests Davenport University in 6-1 Miami University win

The Miami University RedHawks' Jessica Gould had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in his team's 6-1 win over the Davenport University Panthers.

Gould's tallies came at 12:47 into the first period to make the score 1-1 and 7:49 into the second to make the score 3-1 Miami University.

Miami University's penalty kill excelled, as the RedHawks gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

Miami University stifled Davenport University's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The RedHawks kept the Panthers' goalie busy throughout the game, and Karley Ferguson made 41 saves on 47 shots. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

Miami University additionally got points from Ellen Chiligiris, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Katelyn Augustine, who also had one goal and one assist. Miami University also had goals scored by Alyssa Visalli and Kaley Mooney, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Miami University were Becca Senden, Ireland Mooney, Kathleen Baldwin, and Nicole Matthews, who each chipped in one.

Davenport University found itself stymied offensively, and got off a mere 13 shots against Miami University's defense.

The Panthers were led by Lexie Boydston, who scored the team's only goal. Boydston scored 12:23 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Davenport University.

Emalee Wills recorded 12 saves for the RedHawks. Miami University incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Davenport University incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
