Michigan State University downs Davenport University in overtime, 3-2 (OT)

The Michigan State University Spartans' Kara Scaturro scored 32 seconds into overtime to beat the Davenport University Panthers, 3-2 (OT).

Michigan State University came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Spartans trailed 2-0 after a power play goal by Davenport University's Lexie Boydston at 8:02 in the second period. Michigan State University knotted things up at 2-2 on a goal by Jenay DeCaussin at 19:05 in the second period.

Scaturro had two goals and one assist to lead the Spartans. Scaturro scored the first of his two goals at 16:10 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Davenport University. Elise Plancon provided the assist. Scaturro's next tally made the score 3-2 Michigan State University with 19:28 left in overtime. Plancon assisted on the tally.

Michigan State University forced the Panthers goalie Karley Ferguson to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots. The Spartans could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 14 minutes in penalties during the game.

Michigan State University also got points from DeCaussin, who also registered one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Michigan State University were Kelsey Cross, who had one.

Davenport University excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances.

The Panthers were helped by Adrienne Porcalla, who finished with one goal. Porcalla scored 4:20 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Davenport University. Catie Dunne picked up the assist. In addition, Davenport University received assists from Katie Dubro, who had one.

Hannah Johnson made 20 saves for Michigan State University on 22 shots. Davenport University's Ferguson stopped 32 shots out of the 35 that he faced. The Panthers incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
