M1 Lindenwood University wins tough contest against M1 Robert Morris Univ Illinois, 5-3

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the M1 Lindenwood University Lions escaped with a 5-3 victory over the M1 Robert Morris Univ Illinois Eagles.

No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Graham Zagrodney at 46 seconds of the third period.

With two goals and four assists between them, Stephen Bopp and Zagrodney teamed up to power M1 Lindenwood University's offense. Bopp registered one goal and two assists and Zagrodney also notched one goal and two assists.

The Lions stifled M1 Robert Morris Univ Illinois' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals. M1 Lindenwood University's offense was clicking better than usual and put 43 shots on goal during the game, better than the 0.3 shots per game it averages.

M1 Lindenwood University additionally got points from Zagrodney, who also finished with one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Others who scored for M1 Lindenwood University included Tobias Nasgarde, Brandon Rumble, and Riley Spraggs, who each put in one. In addition, M1 Lindenwood University received assists from Tommy Heinzman and Brennan Luscombe, who each chipped in one and Jake Fairchild and Michael Lozano, who contributed two each.

The Eagles could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 26 minutes in penalties during the game.

M1 Robert Morris Univ Illinois was led by Nick Gnagni, who grabbed two goals. Gnagni scored the first of his two goals at 4:29 into the first period to make the score 1-0 M1 Robert Morris Univ Illinois. Ben Boukal assisted on the tally. Gnagni's next tally made the score 4-3 M1 Lindenwood University with 16:27 left in the third period. Nick Ernst picked up the assist. M1 Robert Morris Univ Illinois also got a goal from Gavin Burbach as well.
