M2 North Carolina University of vanquishes M2 Duke University in shootout, 4-3 (2-1 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as M2 North Carolina University of defeated the M2 Duke University Blue Devils in a shootout 4-3 (2-1 SO).

The shootout featured eight attempts between both teams. M2 Duke University's shootout goal was scored by Alexander Voloshin. In addition to the clincher, M2 North Carolina University of got a shootout goal from Brendan Radatovich.

M2 North Carolina University of pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 12 penalty minutes.

M2 North Carolina University of was sparked by Benjamin Millar, who had one goal. Millar scored on the power play 3:01 into the third period to make the score 3-2 M2 North Carolina University of. M2 North Carolina University of had gained a power play chance when Voloshin was whistled for slashing. Ben Sisemore picked up the assist.

M2 North Carolina University of's offense rang up 41 shots on the Blue Devils' net.

M2 North Carolina University of also had goals scored by Benjamin Gurlitz and Aj Hamel, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for M2 North Carolina University of were Sean Spero, Radatovich, Vincent Boudreau, and Richard Chen, who contributed one each.

M2 Duke University was led by Travis Buck, who grabbed two goals and one assist. Buck scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 13:58 into the first period to make the score 2-1 M2 Duke University. The Blue Devils had gotten the advantage when M2 North Carolina University of's Andrew Jordan was sent off for high sticking. Kevin Brooke assisted on the tally. Buck's next tally on the power play made the score 3-3 with 7:13 left in the third period. Myles Neumann picked up the assist. More assists for M2 Duke University came via Tom Cahill, who had one.

Chris Bakolia made 24 saves for M2 North Carolina University of on 27 shots. M2 North Carolina University of registered one goal on three power play opportunities. Nick Barra recorded 37 saves for M2 Duke University. The Blue Devils incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
