UNC-Charlotte 49ers survived a determined comeback attempt by the Elon University Phoenix on the way to a 4-3 win.

UNC-Charlotte 49ers made the score 4-2 on a goal by Michael Anderson at 9:15 in the third period, and Elon University got as close as 4-3 when Sam Sarath scored 15:23 into the third period.

Andrew Miller had a great game for UNC-Charlotte 49ers, netting two goals. Miller found the back of the net on the power play 5:54 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Elon University and again while 9:27 into the second to make the score 2-2.

The Phoenix were unable to stop UNC-Charlotte 49ers from sending pucks towards the net, and UNC-Charlotte 49ers eventually piled up 41 shots on goal. Penalties took their toll on UNC-Charlotte 49ers, as its penalty kill unit let in three power play goals.

Sean Hopper also scored for UNC-Charlotte 49ers. More assists for UNC-Charlotte 49ers came via Philip Arnold, who had two and Zachary Usinger, who had four.

Elon University's offense rang up 37 shots on UNC-Charlotte 49ers' net.

The Phoenix were helped by Drew Waetjen, who registered one goal. Waetjen scored on the power play 4:03 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Elon University. Elon University had taken the advantage when UNC-Charlotte 49ers' Miller got sent off for hooking. Connor McCormick picked up the assist. Elon University additionally got points from Sarath, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Elon University also got a goal from Griffin Wolno as well. Other players who recorded assists for Elon University were Evan Weisburger, who had one.

Daniel Ritter recorded 34 saves for UNC-Charlotte 49ers. UNC-Charlotte 49ers incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Michael Sebetic made 37 saves for the Phoenix on 41 shots. Elon University incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
