M1 Pittsburgh University of pulls away in second, rolls over M1 West Virginia University, 5-1

The M1 Pittsburgh University of Panthers scored three goals in the second period to pull away from the M1 West Virginia University Mountaineers and clinch a 5-1 win.

M1 Pittsburgh University of was led by goalie Ben Cirba, who finished with 34 saves while allowing one goal. Cirba certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 3.64 entering the contest.

M1 West Virginia University's eight penalties came back to haunt it, as the Mountaineers let up four goals while on the penalty kill.

The Panthers racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with six minors and one major for 27 minutes in penalty time. M1 Pittsburgh University of surpassed its season average of 15.0 penalty minutes per game. By firing 30 shots on goal, the Panthers exceeded the 1.1 shot they average per game this year.

M1 Pittsburgh University of was helped by Daniel Merz, who registered one goal and one assist.
