M1 Pittsburgh University of uses big second period to beat M1 Villanova University, 8-3

The M1 Pittsburgh University of Panthers scored four goals in the second period to pull away from the M1 Villanova University Wildcats and clinch an 8-3 win.

Daniel Merz was all over the ice for M1 Pittsburgh University of, as he tallied one goal and three assists in the win. Merz scored on the power play 15:38 into the first period to make the score 1-1. The Panthers had gotten the advantage when M1 Villanova University's Michael Mcdonald was sent off for roughing.

The Wildcats were doomed by their poor performance on special teams, as M1 Pittsburgh University of was able to score five times while on the power play.

The Panthers found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. M1 Pittsburgh University of averages 5.3 goals per game. The Panthers were hit hard by penalties in the contest, and totaled seven minors and one major for 19 minutes in penalty time. M1 Pittsburgh University of put 34 shots on net during the contest, more than the 2.2 it averages per game.
