M3-Pitts-Johnstown survives M3-Penn State-Behrend comeback, wins 8-7

M3-Pitts-Johnstown, which led by three goals at one point, survived a comeback attempt by M3-Penn State-Behrend and clinched an 8-7 victory.

M3-Pitts-Johnstown led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when M3-Pitts-Johnstown's Hunter Grafton scored at 4:02 in the second period to put M3-Pitts-Johnstown up 4-1.

Luke Reed had a great game for M3-Pitts-Johnstown, netting two goals. Reed scored short handed at 8:20 into the first period to make the score 2-0 M3-Pitts-Johnstown and again while on the power play 18:16 into the third to make the score 8-6 M3-Pitts-Johnstown.

M3-Pitts-Johnstown surpassed its usual scoring output this season. M3-Pitts-Johnstown averages 4.9 goals per game. M3-Pitts-Johnstown cashed in on power play opportunities, scoring two goals on three chances. By firing 33 shots on goal, M3-Pitts-Johnstown exceeded the 0.9 shots it averages per game this year. M3-Pitts-Johnstown struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 38 penalty minutes for five opposing power plays.

M3-Pitts-Johnstown additionally got points from Bryan Albright, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Grafton, who also had one goal and three assists to lead the team in points, and Josh Oliver, who also registered one goal and two assists. Others who scored for M3-Pitts-Johnstown included Grant Duvall, Cody Austad, and Jacob Miller, who each put in one. In addition, M3-Pitts-Johnstown received assists from Tyler Shima, Sean Siegel, Brendan Shevchik, Marc Swankler, and Denzel Sullivan, who contributed one each.

M3-Penn State-Behrend forced M3-Pitts-Johnstown's goaltenders to work without much rest, finishing with 40 shots and forcing 33 saves. James Borriello made 20 stops and Ian Ritchie made 13. M3-Penn State-Behrend found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. M3-Penn State-Behrend has scored at the pace of 4.4 goals per game during the current campaign. M3-Penn State-Behrend's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as M3-Penn State-Behrend finished with 14 penalty minutes.

M3-Penn State-Behrend was led by Nathan Ropelewski, who racked up two goals and one assist. Ropelewski scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 9:05 into the second period to make the score 4-2 M3-Pitts-Johnstown. M3-Penn State-Behrend had gained a power play chance when Sullivan was whistled for cross checking. William Rahenkamp provided the assist. Ropelewski's next tally on the power play made the score 5-4 M3-Penn State-Behrend with 14:17 left in the third period. Brenden Mcfarlane picked up the assist. M3-Penn State-Behrend also got points from Mcfarlane, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Steven Stasik, who also had one goal and one assist, and Matthew Lorei, who also registered one goal and one assist. M3-Penn State-Behrend also had goals scored by Kenny Gross and Ryan Spengler, who scored one goal each. More assists for M3-Penn State-Behrend came via Justin Leonard, who had two and Justin Dedionisio, Michael Pasquarello, Parker Faix, and Branden Decker, who each chipped in one.
