Stock stymies M1 West Virginia University, M1 Indiana Univ of Pennsylvania wins 5-1

A stellar performance between the pipes by Robert Stock helped the M1 Indiana Univ of Pennsylvania Crimson Hawks defeat the M1 West Virginia University Mountaineers, 5-1.

M1 West Virginia University fell victim to a deadly M1 Indiana Univ of Pennsylvania power play, which ripped the Mountaineers for four goals.

The Crimson Hawks were paced by Anthony Venezia, who finished with one goal and one assist. Venezia scored on the power play 11:40 into the first period to make the score 2-1 M1 Indiana Univ of Pennsylvania. M1 Indiana Univ of Pennsylvania had gotten the advantage when M1 West Virginia University's Brennen Adams was sent off for hooking. Nick Harrison assisted on the tally.

The Crimson Hawks put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Mountaineers to score on any of their six power plays. By firing 41 shots on goal, M1 Indiana Univ of Pennsylvania exceeded the 1.5 shot it averages per game this year.

M1 Indiana Univ of Pennsylvania additionally got points from Adam Kondraski, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Others who scored for M1 Indiana Univ of Pennsylvania included Connor Campbell, Chip Byrne, and Tyler Speis, who each put in one. In addition, M1 Indiana Univ of Pennsylvania received assists from Reid Duguid, Christopher Mccambridge, and Thomas Armstrong, who each chipped in one and Nick Sette and James Martin, who contributed two each.

M1 West Virginia University was held below its usual level of production. The Mountaineers average 3.2 goals per game. M1 West Virginia University put 30 shots on net during the contest, more than the 1.2 it averages per game. The Mountaineers struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as they finished the game with 30 penalty minutes for seven opposing power plays.

M1 West Virginia University was led by Eric Keefe, who scored the team's only goal. Keefe scored 9:57 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Riley Horvath provided the assist.

The Crimson Hawks' Stock stopped 29 shots out of the 30 that he faced. M1 Indiana Univ of Pennsylvania incurred 28 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. Ryan Wickiser rejected 36 shots on goal for the Mountaineers.
