M1 Colorado ^ University of uses shootout to best M1 Arizona ^ University of, 2-1 (2-1 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the M1 Colorado ^ University of Golden Buffaloes defeated the M1 Arizona ^ University of Wildcats in a shootout 2-1 (2-1 SO).

The shootout lasted for six attempts between the teams. M1 Arizona ^ University of got a shootout goal from Matthew Armenti. M1 Colorado ^ University of's other shootout goal was scored by Chris Burkemper.

The Golden Buffaloes came back from a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. M1 Colorado ^ University of was down 1-0 after a goal by the Wildcats' Kyle Griffin at 10:19 in the first period. The Golden Buffaloes knotted things up at 1-1 on a goal by Burkemper at 7:51 in the third period.

M1 Colorado ^ University of's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four M1 Arizona ^ University of power plays. With 38 shots on target during the contest, the Golden Buffaloes exceeded the 13.2 shots they average per game this year.

More assists for M1 Colorado ^ University of came via Jake Bauer, who had one.

M1 Arizona ^ University of put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow M1 Colorado ^ University of to score on any of its four power plays. The Wildcats put 17 shots on net during the contest, more than the 0.6 they average per game. M1 Arizona ^ University of's offense was helped by the efforts of its defensemen, who managed to put eight shots on net during the game.

In addition, M1 Arizona ^ University of received assists from Armenti and Charles James, who each chipped in one.
