M1 Colorado ^ University of uses shootout to best M1 Minot State University, 2-1 (2-1 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the M1 Colorado ^ University of Golden Buffaloes defeated the M1 Minot State University Beavers in a shootout 2-1 (2-1 SO).

The shootout featured five attempts between both teams. M1 Minot State University got a shootout goal from Derrick Brooks. M1 Colorado ^ University of's other shootout goal was scored by Jake Bauer.

The Beavers were stymied by the Golden Buffaloes' netminder Colin Champine, who stopped 51 shots during the victory. Champine managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 2.19 prior to the game.

M1 Colorado ^ University of put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow M1 Minot State University to score on any of its three power plays. With 37 shots on target during the contest, the Golden Buffaloes exceeded the 14.1 shots they average per game this year.

M1 Colorado ^ University of was led by Andrew Bradford, who registered one goal. Bradford scored on the power play 13:33 into the second period to make the score 1-0 M1 Colorado ^ University of. Luke Carter assisted on the tally.

The Beavers managed to stay out of the box better than usual, finishing with one minor for two minutes in penalty time. M1 Minot State University wound up below its season average of 16.0 penalty minutes per game. The Beavers' offense operated below their season average. M1 Minot State University averages 5.0 goals per game. The Beavers' defensemen also contributed in the offensive zone and ended up with 22 shots between them. M1 Minot State University's offense rang up 52 shots on the Golden Buffaloes' net.

The Beavers were led by Lyndon Lipinski, who scored the team's only goal. Lipinski scored 15:29 into the third period to make the score 1-1. Brett Mcnevin picked up the assist.

M1 Colorado ^ University of incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Holden Kurtz recorded 35 saves for M1 Minot State University.
