M1 Villanova University outlasts M1 West Chester University, 3-2

The M1 Villanova University Wildcats gutted out a close 3-2 win against the M1 West Chester University Golden Rams.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Dillon McCourt secured the win for M1 Villanova University with a goal in the third period.

The Wildcats were sparked by McCourt, who grabbed one goal and one assist. McCourt scored 16:33 into the third period to make the score 3-2 M1 Villanova University. Aidan Rush picked up the assist.

M1 Villanova University's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three M1 West Chester University power plays. The Wildcats' offense was clicking better than usual and put 24 shots on goal during the game, better than the 0.3 shots per game they average.

Others who scored for M1 Villanova University included Nicholas Schultz and David Troiano, who scored one goal each. In addition, M1 Villanova University received assists from John Skaggs, Chris Sabanos, and Matthew Brizzi, who contributed one each.

By firing 30 shots on goal, M1 West Chester University exceeded the 0.7 shots it averages per game this year.

The Golden Rams were helped by Justin Finnerty, who racked up one goal. Finnerty scored 13:13 into the first period to make the score 1-1. james Davis provided the assist. Nicholas Desimone made 12 saves before being replaced by Michael Harper, who took the win and made 16 saves. M1 Villanova University totaled 34 minutes in penalty time with two minors and two majors and went 0-for-2 on the power play. Michael Rice recorded 21 saves for M1 West Chester University. The Golden Rams ended with 36 minutes in penalty time with three minors and two majors.
