Buchanan nets hat trick, leads Carleton Place Midget AAA to 4-2 win over Hawkesbury Midget AAA

A hat trick by Logan Buchanan was the highlight in Canadians' 4-2 win against the Hawkesbury Midget AAA Hawks.

Buchanan's first goal came 48 seconds into the first period. He then added goals at 8:02 into the second and at 13:06 into the second.

Hawkesbury Midget AAA's power play was ineffective against the Carleton Place Midget AAA Canadians' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

Carleton Place Midget AAA stifled the Hawks' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Hawkesbury Midget AAA was unable to stop the Canadians from sending pucks towards the net, and Carleton Place Midget AAA eventually piled up 37 shots on goal. The Canadians could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 20 minutes in penalties during the game.

Carleton Place Midget AAA also got a goal from Reece Bolton as well. In addition, Carleton Place Midget AAA received assists from Emile Cyr, Brayden Campeau, Skylar Quartermain, Ryan Shaw, and Ryland Mosley, who contributed one each.

The Hawks excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in nine chances. Hawkesbury Midget AAA's offense was handcuffed by Carleton Place Midget AAA's defensive play, and the Hawks managed only 11 shots on goal during the game.

Hawkesbury Midget AAA was led by Tyler Boivin, who registered two goals. Boivin scored the first of his two goals at 4:41 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Carleton Place Midget AAA. Martin Lavigne assisted on the tally. Boivin's next tally made the score 2-2 with 14:36 left in the second period. Adam Levesque picked up the assist. Other players who recorded assists for Hawkesbury Midget AAA were Brett Romain, who had one.

Michael Leach recorded nine saves for the Canadians. The Hawks' Alex Labreche stopped 33 shots out of the 37 that he faced. Hawkesbury Midget AAA incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors.
