A stellar performance between the pipes by Jean-Philippe Tourigny helped the Kanata Midget AAA Lasers defeat the Nepean Midget AAA Raiders, 2-1.

Nepean Midget AAA's power play was ineffective against Kanata Midget AAA's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

The Lasers were led by Nathan MacKechnie, who registered one goal. MacKechnie scored 17:56 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Kanata Midget AAA. Justin Palmer assisted on the tally.

Kanata Midget AAA's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Nepean Midget AAA power plays. The Lasers kept the Raiders' goalie busy throughout the game, and Marshall Frappier made 38 saves on 40 shots. Kanata Midget AAA could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 18 minutes in penalties during the game.

Luca Nocita also scored for Kanata Midget AAA. In addition, Kanata Midget AAA received assists from David Silye and Cade Townend, who each chipped in one.

Nepean Midget AAA put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Lasers to score on any of their three power plays. The Raiders forced Kanata Midget AAA goalie Tourigny to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots.

Nepean Midget AAA was led by Shawn Timlin, who scored the team's only goal. Timlin scored 1:40 into the second period to make the score 1-1. JJ Boucher picked up the assist.

Tourigny rejected 32 shots on goal for the Lasers. The Raiders incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
