Pembroke Midget AAA uses shootout to best Nepean Midget AAA, 5-4 (1-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Pembroke Midget AAA Lumber Kings defeated the Nepean Midget AAA Raiders in a shootout 5-4 (1-0 SO).

The shootout lasted for five attempts between the teams.

Pembroke Midget AAA came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Lumber Kings fell behind 4-2 after a goal by Nepean Midget AAA's Connor Lacey at 2:23 in the third period. Pembroke Midget AAA knotted things up at 4-4 on a goal by Kiefer Levasseur at 12:40 in the third period.

The Lumber Kings got the win with help from a great game by Noah Maika, who had one goal and two assists. Maika scored 7:15 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Nepean Midget AAA. Payton Jardine assisted on the tally.

Pembroke Midget AAA's goal total was higher than its season average. This season, the Lumber Kings average 2.3 goals per contest.

Pembroke Midget AAA also had goals scored by Jordan Radford and Lawson Leclaire, who scored one goal each. In addition, Pembroke Midget AAA received assists from Jackson Norlock and Will Searle, who contributed one each.

The Raiders managed to stay out of the box better than usual, tallying one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Nepean Midget AAA finished below its season average of 10.0 penalty minutes per game. The Raiders kept Pembroke Midget AAA's goalie busy throughout the game, and Jake Smith made 30 saves on 34 shots.

Nepean Midget AAA was helped by Kyle Kuehni, who had one goal. Kuehni scored 14:56 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Nepean Midget AAA. Matt Arial picked up the assist. Others who scored for Nepean Midget AAA included Brandon Thomas and Nicholas Domitrovic, who each put in one. More assists for Nepean Midget AAA came via Paul Larabie and Ryan Kaufman, who each chipped in one and JJ Boucher and Aidan Harris, who contributed two each.

The Lumber Kings incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Marshall Frappier made 22 saves for the Raiders on 26 shots. Nepean Midget AAA registered one goal on six power play opportunities.
