Nepean Midget AAA beats Brockville Midget AAA 3-1 after comeback scareCIHA2 Sat, Jan 09, 2016 Story by Narrative Science.
The Nepean Midget AAA Raiders survived a determined comeback attempt by the Brockville Midget AAA Braves on the way to a 3-1 win. A goal by Zak Karim put Nepean Midget AAA up 3-0 in the third period, but Brockville Midget AAA pulled to within two on Cameron Hebert's tally 18:45 into the third period. The Raiders were led by goalie Anand Oberoi, who finished with 26 saves while allowing one goal. The solid play of Oberoi will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 2.43. Nepean Midget AAA stifled the Braves' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Raiders could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 14 minutes in penalties during the game. Nepean Midget AAA was helped by Nicholas Domitrovic, who grabbed one goal. Domitrovic scored on the power play 11:01 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Nepean Midget AAA. The Raiders had taken the advantage when Brockville Midget AAA's Jacob Shankar got sent off for cross checking. Mackenzie White assisted on the tally. Robbie Pickard also scored for Nepean Midget AAA. Other players who recorded assists for Nepean Midget AAA were Brandon Thomas, Paul Larabie, Aidan Harris, and Ethan Rendell-Watson, who contributed one each. The Braves struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as they finished the game with 14 penalty minutes for six opposing power plays. In addition, Brockville Midget AAA received assists from Brett Lannin and Rocco Barresi, who each chipped in one. Ryan Green rejected 27 shots on goal for Brockville Midget AAA. The Braves registered zero goals on six power play opportunities.
