Kemptville Midget AAA beats Carleton Place Midget AAA 3-2 after comeback scare

The Carleton Place Midget AAA Canadians tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the Kemptville Midget AAA 73s would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 3-2.

Kemptville Midget AAA made the score 3-1 on a goal by Brady Elder at 10:44 in the second period, and Carleton Place Midget AAA got as close as 3-2 when Liam Markhauser scored 14:28 into the third period.

The 73s pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 38 penalty minutes.

Kemptville Midget AAA excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in seven chances. The 73s kept the Canadians' goalie busy throughout the game, and Chris Cuglietta made 31 saves on 34 shots.

Kemptville Midget AAA additionally got points from Mike Armstrong, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Jack Walsh also scored for Kemptville Midget AAA. More assists for Kemptville Midget AAA came via Owen Scott, Zach Cohen, Ryan Pawlikowski, and Devin Saumur, who each chipped in one.

Carleton Place Midget AAA's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Kemptville Midget AAA power plays. The Canadians' offense rang up 33 shots on Kemptville Midget AAA's net. Carleton Place Midget AAA got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game. The Canadians could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 30 minutes in penalties during the game.

In addition, Carleton Place Midget AAA received assists from Cameron Scissons, who had one and Reece Bolton, who had two.

Nick Bond made 31 saves for the 73s on 33 shots.
