Zinner nets hat trick, leads M1 Mercyhurst University to 5-1 win over M1 Duquesne University

Joseph Zinner netted a hat trick to lead the M1 Mercyhurst University Lakers over the M1 Duquesne University Dukes, 5-1.

Zinner got on the scoresheet 12:14 into the first period. He then added goals at 45 seconds into the second and at 8:56 into the third.

M1 Mercyhurst University excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The 33 shots that the Lakers put on net surpassed M1 Mercyhurst University's average of 3.9 shots per game this season.

M1 Mercyhurst University also got points from Pavel Nayda, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Jesse Valasek also scored for M1 Mercyhurst University. In addition, M1 Mercyhurst University received assists from Greg Marsch, who had four and Kevin Valasek, Michal Smid, and Jonah Jobin, who each chipped in one.

M1 Duquesne University put 22 shots on net during the contest, more than the 0.2 it averages per game.

The Dukes were led by Thomas Diffendal, who scored the team's only goal. Diffendal scored 7:37 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Ryan Brawley provided the assist.

The Lakers' Adam Goss stopped 21 shots out of the 22 that he faced. M1 Mercyhurst University incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Alexander Taylor rejected 28 shots on goal for M1 Duquesne University. The Dukes incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
