M1 Oswego State University's comeback falls short, M1 West Virginia University wins 5-3

The M1 West Virginia University Mountaineers, who led by three goals at one point, survived a comeback attempt by the M1 Oswego State University Lakers and clinched a 5-3 victory.

M1 West Virginia University led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Mountaineers' Thomas Brooks scored at 18:20 in the first period to put M1 West Virginia University up 3-0.

Austin Crane was all over the ice for the Mountaineers, as he registered two goals in the win. Crane scored at 10:15 into the first period to make the score 1-0 M1 West Virginia University and again while 12:48 into the first to make the score 2-0 M1 West Virginia University.

M1 West Virginia University's offense was clicking better than usual and put 35 shots on goal during the game, better than the 0.4 shots per game it averages.

M1 West Virginia University also had goals scored by Harrison Colby and Jp Sawyer, who each put in one. More assists for M1 West Virginia University came via Riley Horvath, who had three and Shane Dushay, Alec Hnat, Vincent Fornes, Spencer Schutte, Nicholas Olds, and David Polinski, who each chipped in one.

M1 Oswego State University excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. The Lakers forced the Mountaineers goalie Ian Donnan to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots.

A high sticking penalty on Colby had put the Lakers on the power play. Michael Layman assisted on the tally. Others who scored for M1 Oswego State University included Nicolas Epping and Michael Lucarelli, who scored one goal each. In addition, M1 Oswego State University received assists from Brendon Wormley and Kegan Storjohann, who contributed two each.

M1 West Virginia University's Donnan stopped 29 shots out of the 32 that he faced. The Mountaineers incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Brady Zambanini made 30 saves for M1 Oswego State University on 34 shots. The Lakers incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
