Brockville Midget AAA uses early goal to top Gloucester Midget AAA, 2-0

Rocco Barresi scored the go-ahead goal in the first period, and the Brockville Midget AAA Braves held off the challenges of the Gloucester Midget AAA Rangers in a tough 2-0 win.

Brockville Midget AAA took over the lead for good with a goal by Barresi at 12:06 in the first period. Cameron Hebert assisted on the tally.

Barresi had two goals to lead the Braves to victory.

Brockville Midget AAA's penalty kill excelled, as the Braves gave up zero goals despite allowing seven power plays.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 1:33 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

Brockville Midget AAA forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up eight minors and two majors for 46 minutes in penalty time. The Braves surpassed its season average of 13.0 penalty minutes per game. Brockville Midget AAA stifled Gloucester Midget AAA's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Braves' defensive effort looked to be improved. Brockville Midget AAA gives up 2.9 goals on average per game.

In addition, Brockville Midget AAA received assists from Brett Lannin and Adam VanEttinger, who contributed one each.

The Rangers did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Gloucester Midget AAA averages 2.5 goals per game.

Ryan Green recorded 24 saves for the Braves. Brockville Midget AAA registered one goal on four power play opportunities. Team's Serron Noel and Colin Marshall were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. The Rangers' starting goalie, Brent Pledge-Dickson, made 22 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Jean-Sebastien Gratton, who stopped two shots. Gloucester Midget AAA ended with 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. For the Rangers, Adam Johnston was ejected from the game.
