Richardson nets hat trick, leads Pembroke Midget AAA to 6-3 win over Smiths Falls Midget AAA

Brad Richardson netted a hat trick to lead the Pembroke Midget AAA Lumber Kings over the Smiths Falls Midget AAA Bears, 6-3.

Richardson notched his first tally 5:35 into the second period. He then added goals at 1:34 into the third and at 19:17 into the third.

Pembroke Midget AAA put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Smiths Falls Midget AAA to score on any of its four power plays. The Lumber Kings found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. This season, Pembroke Midget AAA averages 2.4 goals per contest.

Pembroke Midget AAA also got points from Kris Lalonde, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Payton Jardine, who also grabbed two goals and one assist. More assists for Pembroke Midget AAA came via Will Searle, who had three, Chris Grose, Lawson Leclaire, and Jared Campitelli, who contributed one each, and Jackson Norlock and Tyler Dyke, who each chipped in two.

The Bears were helped by Connor Drost, who registered two goals. Drost scored the first of his two goals at 6:00 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Matthew Bidin assisted on the tally. Drost's next tally made the score 4-3 Pembroke Midget AAA with 1:59 left in the third period. Blake Kettyle picked up the assist. Smiths Falls Midget AAA additionally got points from Mackenzie Mercier, who also racked up one goal and one assist. In addition, Smiths Falls Midget AAA received assists from Josh Mills, who had one.

Darian McTavish rejected 26 shots on goal for the Lumber Kings. Pembroke Midget AAA incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Kyle Renaud made 19 saves for Smiths Falls Midget AAA on 23 shots. The Bears incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
