Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the M1 Robert Morris Univ Illinois Eagles defeated M1 Midland University in a shootout 3-2 (1-0 SO).

The shootout lasted for eight attempts between the teams.

M1 Robert Morris Univ Illinois' offense rang up 46 shots on M1 Midland University's net.

The Eagles were led by Chris Pontello, who registered one goal and one assist. Pontello scored 6:13 into the second period to make the score 2-0 M1 Robert Morris Univ Illinois. Josh Hart picked up the assist. M1 Robert Morris Univ Illinois also got a goal from Stan Sojka as well. More assists for M1 Robert Morris Univ Illinois came via Tim Prinz and Matt Cessna, who contributed one each.
