Cessna lifts M1 Robert Morris Univ Illinois over M1 Western Michigan University, 3-0

Matt Cessna had two goals to lead the M1 Robert Morris Univ Illinois Eagles to a 3-0 victory over the M1 Western Michigan University Stallions.

Cessna found the back of the net 9:17 into the first period to make the score 1-0 M1 Robert Morris Univ Illinois and again while on the power play 13:32 into the first to make the score 2-0 M1 Robert Morris Univ Illinois.

M1 Robert Morris Univ Illinois put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow M1 Western Michigan University to score on any of its five power plays. The Stallions were unable to stop the Eagles from sending pucks towards the net, and M1 Robert Morris Univ Illinois eventually piled up 34 shots on goal.

Ryan Martin also scored for M1 Robert Morris Univ Illinois. In addition, M1 Robert Morris Univ Illinois received assists from Derek Diaz, Nick Rizzo, Chris Pontello, Aaron Blaker, and Justin Ball, who contributed one each.

M1 Western Michigan University did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Stallions put an average of 3.0 pucks into the net per game. M1 Western Michigan University could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 24 minutes in penalties during the game.

The Eagles ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Diaz was ejected from the game. The Stallions' Will Massey stopped 31 shots out of the 34 that he faced.
