M1 Stony Brook University survives M1 Rhode Island ^ University of comeback, wins 6-4

The M1 Stony Brook University Seawolves came close to giving away a four-goal lead to the M1 Rhode Island ^ University of Rams, but did just enough to escape with a 6-4 victory.

M1 Stony Brook University led by four goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Seawolves' Brendan Calello scored at 16:59 in the first period to put M1 Stony Brook University up 4-0.

The Seawolves were led by Brian Boser, who racked up one goal and one assist. Boser scored 13:23 into the second period to make the score 5-3 M1 Stony Brook University. Frank Sherding assisted on the tally.

In the losing effort, M1 Rhode Island ^ University of was sparked by Robbie Buehrer, who registered two goals. Buehrer scored the first of his two goals at 4:20 into the second period to make the score 4-2 M1 Stony Brook University. Chris Porter picked up the assist. Buehrer's next tally made the score 4-3 M1 Stony Brook University with 15:05 left in the second period. Porter assisted on the tally.

M1 Stony Brook University put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Rams to score on any of their three power plays. The 41 shots that the Seawolves put on net surpassed M1 Stony Brook University's average of 6.5 shots per game this season.

Others who scored for M1 Stony Brook University included Tyler Underhill, who had two and Eddie Osowski and Frank Coscia, who each put in one. More assists for M1 Stony Brook University came via John Defeo and Alex Miller, who contributed one each and Michael Cartwright and Andrew Cetola, who each chipped in two.

M1 Rhode Island ^ University of's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Rams finished with 18 penalty minutes.

Todd Scarola took the win and made 13 saves before being replaced by Derek Willms who made five saves. The Seawolves incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Caleb Neal recorded 35 saves for M1 Rhode Island ^ University of.
