M1 Kent State University vanquishes M1 Niagara University in shootout, 5-4 (1-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the M1 Kent State University Golden Flashes defeated the M1 Niagara University Purple Eagles in a shootout 5-4 (1-0 SO).

The shootout featured five attempts between both teams.

M1 Kent State University forced M1 Niagara University goalie Mike Parda to work between the pipes, taking 51 shots. The Golden Flashes' penalty kill was ineffective, and let in two goals to the Purple Eagles' power play unit. M1 Kent State University got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

The Golden Flashes were led by Andrew Radosevic, who had one goal and one assist. Radosevic scored 12:59 into the third period to make the score 4-3 M1 Kent State University. Others who scored for M1 Kent State University included Jake Hainline, Chad Parise, and Miles Radosevic, who each put in one. More assists for M1 Kent State University came via Alex Compean, Tj West, Mike Sullivan, and Sky Buller, who each chipped in one.

M1 Kent State University was unable to stop M1 Niagara University from sending pucks towards the net, and the Purple Eagles eventually piled up 42 shots on goal. M1 Niagara University's defense let in more goals than it usually has this year. The Purple Eagles give up 2.5 goals per game.

M1 Niagara University was led by Patrick Gregory, who registered three goals. Andrew Mitch also scored for M1 Niagara University. In addition, M1 Niagara University received assists from Seth Gustin, Michael Skopinski, Tyler Stockwell, Ryan Peters, Dalton Bew, and Austin Wharry, who contributed one each.

The Golden Flashes' Buller stopped 38 shots out of the 42 that he faced. M1 Kent State University incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors. Mike Parda made 46 saves for the Purple Eagles on 50 shots. M1 Niagara University incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
