Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the M1 Arizona ^ University of Wildcats defeated the M1 Colorado State University Rams in a shootout 3-2 (2-0 SO).

The Wildcats put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow M1 Colorado State University to score on any of its four power plays. M1 Arizona ^ University of's offense rang up 37 shots on the Rams' net.

M1 Colorado State University excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. The 40 shots that the Rams put on net surpassed M1 Colorado State University's average of 2.0 shots per game this season.

The Rams were led by Austin Ansay, who registered two goals. Ansay scored the first of his two goals at 18:03 into the second period to make the score 1-0 M1 Colorado State University.
