Kemptville Midget AAA's comeback falls short, Cumberland Midget AAA wins 5-3

The Kemptville Midget AAA 73s almost clawed their way back from a three-goal deficit, but the Cumberland Midget AAA Grads managed to pull out a 5-3 win in the end.

Cumberland Midget AAA led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Grads' Noah Johnston scored at 10:21 in the second period to put Cumberland Midget AAA up 3-0.

The Grads got the win on the strength of a great game by Zakary Rodrigue, who had two goals and two assists. Rodrigue scored the first of his two goals at 2:03 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Cumberland Midget AAA. Rodrigue's next tally made the score 5-3 Cumberland Midget AAA with 28 seconds left in the third period. Liam Peyton assisted on the tally.

Cumberland Midget AAA additionally got points from Roman Cannell, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Cumberland Midget AAA also got a goal from Alex Robert as well. Other players who recorded assists for Cumberland Midget AAA were Anthony Reyes, Tommy Stevenson, and Francois Drouin, who contributed one each.

Kemptville Midget AAA stifled Cumberland Midget AAA's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

The 73s were helped by Joel Holtrop, who grabbed one goal. Holtrop scored on the power play 13:11 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Cumberland Midget AAA. Kemptville Midget AAA had taken the advantage when the Grads' Daniel Mellon got sent off for cross checking. Mike Armstrong picked up the assist. Others who scored for Kemptville Midget AAA included Ryan Pawlikowski and Dean Bucciarelli, who each put in one. In addition, Kemptville Midget AAA received assists from Brady Elder, who had one.

Kai Edmonds recorded 13 saves for Cumberland Midget AAA. The Grads incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The 73s' Nick Bond stopped 17 shots out of the 21 that he faced. Kemptville Midget AAA incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
