Cumberland Midget AAA wins tough contest against Pembroke Midget AAA, 5-3

The Cumberland Midget AAA Grads and the Pembroke Midget AAA Lumber Kings were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Cumberland Midget AAA made the most of its opportunities and won, 5-3.

The Grads gained the winning advantage on a goal by Roman Cannell 15:16 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer.

Tristan Francis had a great game for Cumberland Midget AAA, netting two goals. Francis found the back of the net 13:33 into the second period to make the score 1-1 and again while 19:02 into the third to make the score 5-3 Cumberland Midget AAA.

The Grads stifled Pembroke Midget AAA's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Cumberland Midget AAA forced the Lumber Kings goalie Jake Smith to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots.

Cumberland Midget AAA additionally got points from Cannell, who also registered one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Cumberland Midget AAA included Alex Wall and Francois Drouin, who each put in one. In addition, Cumberland Midget AAA received assists from Andrew Robichaud and Zakary Rodrigue, who contributed one each and Liam Peyton and Wil Murray, who each chipped in two.

Pembroke Midget AAA was led by Will Searle, who finished with one goal and one assist. Searle scored 14:29 into the third period to make the score 3-3. Payton Jardine assisted on the tally. Pembroke Midget AAA also got points from Noah Maika, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Andre Simard also scored for Pembroke Midget AAA. Other players who recorded assists for Pembroke Midget AAA were Jackson Norlock and Reid Barber, who contributed one each.

Seth Carter made 24 saves for the Grads on 27 shots. Cumberland Midget AAA incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. The Lumber Kings' Smith stopped 33 shots out of the 37 that he faced. Pembroke Midget AAA incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
