MISSISSAUGA beats SOUTHWEST 9-2 as Grant-Mentis gets hat trick

Mikyla Grant-Mentis lifted MISSISSAUGA to a 9-2 victory with a hat trick against SOUTHWEST.

Grant-Mentis notched her first tally 4:18 into the first period. He then added goals at 12:23 into the first and at 7:38 into the third.

MISSISSAUGA led 5-1 after the opening frame the first period and maintained a healthy margin after.

MISSISSAUGA forced SOUTHWEST's goalies to work between the pipes, taking 42 shots and forcing 33 saves. Vanessa Despenic made 12 stops and Emily OBright made 21. MISSISSAUGA surpassed its usual scoring output this season. MISSISSAUGA averages 3.5 goals per game.

MISSISSAUGA additionally got points from Daryl Watts, who also racked up two goals and three assists, Rose Falzone, who also registered two goals and one assist, and Emily Pinto, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Lindsay Agnew (C) also scored for MISSISSAUGA. More assists for MISSISSAUGA came via Stephanie Gava, who had two, Leah Galati and Jacquie Tam, who contributed one each, and Gabby Smyth and Brooke Bonsteel (A), who each chipped in three.

SOUTHWEST was led by Savannah Bouzide (A), who finished with one goal. Bouzide (A) scored 11:39 into the first period to make the score 3-1 MISSISSAUGA. Avery Mertz provided the assist. SOUTHWEST also got a goal from Ellen Donaldson as well. Other players who recorded assists for SOUTHWEST were Ashley Maitre and Sofia Smithson, who contributed one each.

Lin Han took the win and made 12 saves before being replaced by Carmen Lasis who made 12 saves. MISSISSAUGA incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. SOUTHWEST incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
