LEASIDE's Pye (A) deadly on offense in 4-1 win against SOUTHWEST

Behind a great game by Emma Pye (A), who had two goals, LEASIDE defeated SOUTHWEST, 4-1.

Pye (A) scored at 42 seconds into the second period to make the score 1-1 and again while 5:29 into the second to make the score 2-1 LEASIDE.

LEASIDE's penalty kill excelled, as LEASIDE gave up zero goals despite allowing nine power plays.

LEASIDE's penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled six minors and one major for 27 minutes in penalty time. LEASIDE had been averaging 10.0 minutes in penalties per game. LEASIDE stifled SOUTHWEST's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. SOUTHWEST was unable to stop LEASIDE from sending pucks towards the net, and LEASIDE eventually piled up 31 shots on goal.

LEASIDE additionally got points from Megan Pardy, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Samantha Jones also scored for LEASIDE. More assists for LEASIDE came via Brooklyn Sarnovsky and Rachel Knee, who each chipped in one and Mariah Hinds and Cynthia Cavanagh (C), who contributed two each.

SOUTHWEST was led by Ellen Donaldson, who scored the team's only goal. Donaldson scored 9:01 into the first period to make the score 1-0 SOUTHWEST. Sofia Smithson picked up the assist.

LEASIDE's Katie Mowbray stopped 17 shots out of the 18 that she faced. LEASIDE registered one goal on four power play opportunities. For LEASIDE, Alex Woods was ejected from the game. Vanessa Despenic made 27 saves for SOUTHWEST on 30 shots. SOUTHWEST incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
