SOUTHWEST beats BARRIE 3-2 after comeback scare

BARRIE tried to dig itself out of a three-goal hole, but SOUTHWEST held on for a 3-2 victory.

A goal by Savannah Bouzide (A) put SOUTHWEST up 3-0 in the third period, but BARRIE pulled to within one on Kara Washer (A)'s tally 12:51 into the third period.

SOUTHWEST was helped by Ellen Donaldson, who had one goal. Donaldson scored 8:47 into the second period to make the score 2-0 SOUTHWEST. Bouzide (A) picked up the assist. SOUTHWEST additionally got points from Bouzide (A), who also grabbed one goal and one assist. SOUTHWEST also got a goal from Angeline Taiariol (A) as well. Other players who recorded assists for SOUTHWEST were Jenna Rops (C), Avery Mertz, and Sara Mayrand, who contributed one each.

BARRIE managed to stay out of the box better than usual, racking up one minor for two minutes in penalty time. BARRIE ended up below its season average of 9.0 penalty minutes per game.

Dallas Dawson also scored for BARRIE. More assists for BARRIE came via Alex Frigon and Devon Viragh, who each chipped in one.

Emily OBright made 22 saves for SOUTHWEST on 24 shots. SOUTHWEST incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Alyssa Moyer took the loss and made 12 saves before being replaced by Mia (PU) McLeod who made eight saves. BARRIE registered one goal on four power play opportunities.
