TORONTO pulled out a 2-1 (OT) overtime victory over NEPEAN on a clutch goal by Claire Thompson. TORONTO's penalty kill excelled, as TORONTO gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays. TORONTO was sparked by Thompson, who grabbed one goal. Thompson scored 3:00 into overtime to make the score 2-1 TORONTO. Emma Low-A-Chee provided the assist. TORONTO stifled NEPEAN's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. TORONTO forced NEPEAN goalie Amanda Hadwen to work between the pipes, taking 45 shots. Celine Frappier also scored for TORONTO. In addition, TORONTO received assists from Haley Shugart and Neve Van Pelt, who each chipped in one. NEPEAN put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow TORONTO to score on any of its four power plays. NEPEAN was led by Samantha Bouley, who scored the team's only goal. Bouley scored 3:41 into the first period to make the score 1-0 NEPEAN. Tristyn Svetek picked up the assist. TORONTO's Kayla Wormsbecher stopped 23 shots out of the 24 that she faced. TORONTO incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Amanda Hadwen made 43 saves for NEPEAN on 45 shots. NEPEAN incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
