Huge game by Mori boosts WHITBY over SOUTHWEST, 5-2

Makayla Mori had two goals and two assists to lead WHITBY to a 5-2 victory over SOUTHWEST.

Mori scored at 7:10 into the second period to make the score 1-0 WHITBY and again while 2:48 into the third to make the score 3-1 WHITBY.

SOUTHWEST was unable to stop WHITBY from sending pucks towards the net, and WHITBY eventually piled up 32 shots on goal. WHITBY surpassed its usual scoring output this season. WHITBY averages 2.3 goals per game.

WHITBY additionally got points from Samantha Isbell, who also had one goal and two assists and Briana Colangelo, who also finished with one goal and two assists. Alicia Pallister also scored for WHITBY. In addition, WHITBY received assists from Rebecca Hall, Brooklyn Bastarache, Margaret MacEachern (PU), and Brooke McQuigge, who contributed one each.

SOUTHWEST managed to stay out of the box better than usual, registering one minor for two minutes in penalty time. SOUTHWEST wound up below its season average of 7.0 penalty minutes per game. SOUTHWEST did not challenge the opposing netminder, only getting 12 shots on net to force 10 saves.

SOUTHWEST was led by Savannah Bouzide (A), who grabbed two goals. Bouzide (A) scored the first of her two goals at 10:17 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Angeline Taiariol (A) picked up the assist. Bouzide (A)'s next tally made the score 3-2 WHITBY with 11:10 left in the third period. Avery Mertz assisted on the tally. Other players who recorded assists for SOUTHWEST were Ellen Donaldson and Jessica Jeffery, who each chipped in one.

WHITBY's Emma Schram stopped 10 shots out of the 12 that she faced. WHITBY incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Vanessa Despenic made 27 saves for SOUTHWEST on 32 shots. SOUTHWEST registered zero goals on two power play opportunities.
