LEASIDE rides Toland to victory over OTTAWA, 5-1

A stellar performance between the pipes by Danielle Toland helped LEASIDE defeat OTTAWA, 5-1.

LEASIDE pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 12 penalty minutes.

LEASIDE was paced by Emma Pye (A), who had one goal. Pye (A) scored 6:11 into the first period to make the score 2-0 LEASIDE. Mariah Hinds assisted on the tally.

LEASIDE put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow OTTAWA to score on any of its six power plays. LEASIDE outdid its season average for goals scored. LEASIDE has scored at the pace of 2.1 goals per game during the current campaign. LEASIDE's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

LEASIDE additionally got points from Brooklyn Sarnovsky, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Hinds, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points, Caitlin Heale, who also finished with one goal and one assist, and Olivia Reid, who also racked up one goal and one assist. In addition, LEASIDE received assists from Rachel Knee, Samantha Jones, and Kristin Della Rovere, who contributed one each.

OTTAWA's normally stingy defense allowed more goals than usual. OTTAWA averages 2.4 goals allowed per game.

OTTAWA was led by Coralie Larose, who scored the team's only goal. Larose scored 6:46 into the second period to make the score 2-1 LEASIDE.

LEASIDE's Toland stopped 28 shots out of the 29 that she faced. LEASIDE registered two goals on five power play opportunities. Jennifer Walker made 22 saves for OTTAWA on 27 shots. OTTAWA incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
