AURORA shrugs off penalties, upends KINGSTON, 2-1Invista Centre Fri, Dec 18, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
KINGSTON failed to take advantage of its power play opportunities and AURORA shook off a number of penalties to win, 2-1. AURORA was sparked by Mia Rogers, who finished with one goal and one assist. Rogers scored 8:27 into the second period to make the score 2-1 AURORA. Andrea Elia picked up the assist. AURORA stifled KINGSTON's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. KINGSTON was unable to stop AURORA from sending pucks towards the net, and AURORA eventually piled up 31 shots on goal. AURORA's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as AURORA finished with 16 penalty minutes. AURORA also got points from Emerson Eliott, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. KINGSTON put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow AURORA to score on any of its four power plays. KINGSTON found itself stymied offensively, and got off a mere 12 shots against AURORA's defense. KINGSTON was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 14 penalty minutes. KINGSTON was led by Hannah Scaletta, who scored the team's only goal. Scaletta scored 3:51 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Brianna Gaffney (C) assisted on the tally. Jenna Alessandrini recorded 11 saves for AURORA. Whitney Morton made 29 saves for KINGSTON on 31 shots. KINGSTON registered zero goals on seven power play opportunities.
