LEASIDE blows out KINGSTON, 6-1

LEASIDE had a five-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 6-1 win over KINGSTON.

Kristin Della Rovere had two goals and two assists to lead LEASIDE. Della Rovere scored the first of her two goals at 20 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 LEASIDE. Cynthia Cavanagh (C) picked up the assist. Della Rovere's next tally made the score 6-1 LEASIDE with 11:11 left in the third period. Cavanagh (C) assisted on the tally.

LEASIDE was led by goalie Katie Mowbray, who finished with 28 saves while allowing one goal. Mowbray certainly lowered her goals against average, which was 1.32 entering the contest.

LEASIDE forced KINGSTON's goalies to work all game long, launching 34 shots and forcing 28 saves. Kathryn Jalink made 24 stops and Whitney Morton made four. LEASIDE found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. This season, LEASIDE averages 1.9 goal per contest.

LEASIDE additionally got points from Olivia Reid, who also registered two goals and two assists to lead the team in points. Siobhan Birch also scored for LEASIDE. In addition, LEASIDE received assists from Caitlin Heale, who had two and Alex Woods and Olivia Kariunas (A), who contributed one each.

KINGSTON managed to stay out of the box better than usual, registering one minor for two minutes in penalty time. KINGSTON wound up below its season average of 7.0 penalty minutes per game.

LEASIDE incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. KINGSTON registered one goal on four power play opportunities.
